Versace Goes Fur Free?

Versace is the latest to join a growing list of designers choosing to drop animal fur from their fashion houses and move forward with more ethical alternatives.

In an interview with 1843 Magazine, Donatella Versace, vice president and chief designer of the company, said that fur, which has been a strong feature in Versace’s collections for decades, will no longer be used.

“Fur? I’m out of that,” she said. “I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.”

Versace is yet to officially comment and its own website still showcases many fur and fur-trimmed products.

Since 2017, Gucci, Tom Ford, Givenchy, and Michael Kors have all pledged to go fur-free in their coming seasons.

We'll update this story as it unfolds.
