In collaboration with Badass Vegan Women, we are bringing you a fortnightly+ series of interviews with inspiring vegan women across the globe. Sign up to our newsletter so you don’t miss a single Interview With A Vegan Queen®.

Badass Vegan Women is a non-profit organisation with a mission to celebrate, promote and uplift vegan women and those who identify as female for the work they are doing in and out of the vegan community. We want to shine light on their achievements, empower them as Badass Vegan Women and work to inspire women worldwide.

Continuing our #internationalwomensday appreciation we've got more in our series of interviews with inspiring vegan women. Here we talk to Em-J Williams, the woman behind The EmJ Company who produce beautiful kit essentials for makeup, hair and beauty professionals.

Em-J has been a pro make-up artist for over ten years and started the company to provide the industry with vegan, cruelty-free products designed and handmade in England. We spoke to her about her achievements and advice for others.

1. What advice would you give to any young women out there looking to start up something of their own?

If something gives you a tickle in your heart, then it’s right. Nine times out of ten your passion can be your career. If you have an idea, stop talking about it and start today. Be open-minded, your initial vision could change and it’s okay! It could even end up better than you imagined.

2. Tell us something you’re proud of achieving.

I am very proud of my brand The EmJ Company which I started with my mum five years ago. We started the brand when the make-up, hair and beauty worlds were lacking in variety for quality and beauty. The brand is very much in line with my morals - handmade in England, vegan and cruelty-free showing people you can have amazing quality and beauty without harming animals.

3. Who are some of your favourite inspiring females?

My mum for being a bad ass fashion designer & fighting on despite huge health hurdles. The SPECTRUM girlies for building their empire & staying down to earth & Gabrielle Bernstein for inspiring women all over the world & falling in love with themselves.

4. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects?

I am super excited to extend my The EmJ Company range, Super Chic, vegan makeup brushes coming very soon. I have been developing these for over a year…quality is so important to me!

They are handmade in England and made from a brand new type of hair which is the softest synthetic hair ever to be seen on makeup brushes. I have also just launched my YouTube channel Plantfaced which I’m very excited to work hard on! I also am super flattered to be asked to talk at Vevolution's fashion and beauty event this summer.
